New hires: Cassandra, Lorna and James

Versiv Composites is delighted to welcome a dynamic group of new professionals who bring diverse skills and fresh perspectives to our innovative team!

Introducing New Hires:

Cassandra Carroll – Chief Financial Officer

  1. What attracted you to the CFO role at Versiv Composites?
I wanted to work with an Irish-based company in a role where I can use my finance experience to help the business meet its strategic objectives.
  1. What are you most looking forward to in the role over the coming months?
Working at Versiv will give me the opportunity to get out from behind my computer and into the business where I can learn and support the processes. In the upcoming months, I am looking forward to building the foundation I need to help the business expand to new markets while maintaining its financial health.
  1. What activities or hobbies do you enjoy outside of work?
I have an e-bike and enjoy cycling on the weekends. Maybe just going to the market or sometimes doing a 50 - 60km loop that will include a stop for lunch along the way.
  1. How do you maintain work-life balance, while managing workloads in the business?
I find that when I schedule my life as much as I schedule my work, I have more work life balance. In 2024 I joined a gym and schedule my classes at a time that forces me to leave the office at end of workday. So far so good.
  1. What is your favourite holiday destination and why?
Dingle Peninsula. While Dingle town can be crowded during the summer months, I find that in general the peninsula is quite quiet and the beaches aren’t that crowded. I love to take the dogs swimming or hiking – the views are incredible.
  1. Any podcast or book recommendations?
I like New Heights and have read everything written by Harlen Coben, Michael Connolly and Karin Slaughter.

Lorna Fletcher – Product Coordinator

  1. What attracted you to the role of Product Co-ordinator at Versiv Composites?
I was attracted to the Product Coordinator role at Versiv because it aligns perfectly with my background in business marketing and management, The opportunity to work closely with the Product Manager to support growth initiatives and optimise product lines is exciting, as it allows me to use my analytical and coordination skills. Additionally, Versiv’s reputation for high performance materials and innovation makes it a company I’m eager to contribute to and grow with.
  1. What are you most looking forward to over the coming months in the role?
I’m looking forward to learning more about Versiv’s products and contributing to key projects that support growth and innovation. I’m excited to develop my skills further, work closely with the team, and play a role optimising the product portfolio and supporting customer success.
  1. Any career highlights so far before coming to Versiv?
Within my first two months at United Language Group, I secured a €35,000 deal with a hospitality company that needed their website translated into multiple languages.
  1. What hobbies or activities do you enjoy outside of work?
Outside of work, I attempt to stay active with circuit training classes and have grand plans to get back into five-a-side-soccer – assuming my coordination cooperates…. I’m also on the lookout for hobbies that don’t require too much skill or risk of injury!

James Devane – Process Engineer

  1. What motivated you to become a process engineer, and what attracted you to Versiv?
As a teenager weak in science I saw an engineering degree as a way of training myself to a rigorous and systematic approach to problem-solving, deepening my understanding of fundamentals of the physical world in a practical way.
Versiv has an excellent blend of hands-on problem-solving and abstract analytical skills, combining time on the shop floor with time spent behind a computer screen.
  1. Is there any challenging project you've worked on and how you addressed the challenges?
When faced with challenging projects it’s important to keep an open mind for as long as possible – talking to people, watching processes, gathering data, and resisting the urge to simply look for evidence that supports the first idea that comes into my head. Deliberately staying in the exploring, unknowing state is a challenge.
  1. What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Sailing, gardening, playing music, and messing around in my workshop.
  1. How do you balance work demands with personal life, especially during high-stress projects?
Cycling to work, combined with morning or evening sea swims helps keep the stress levels down.
  1. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
The next goal is to sail the Atlantic single-handed – but I’m not in any hurry!
  1. Any podcast or book recommendations?
I am hooked on two podcasts: ‘Ukraine: The Latest’ gives great insight into the struggles in Europe, as well as broader geopolitics. ‘Feel Better Live More’ is a medical doctor’s take on how to proactively stay disease free, rather than reactively medicate for chronic issues.

Other new hires to Versiv in the last quarter were:

  • Donal McMahon – Formulation
  • Patrick Lucey – Operator
  • Tom DillonChain Supply Manager
