Introducing Versiv Composites New Hires

We're thrilled to introduce the newest members of the Versiv Composites team, who bring a wealth of experience and fresh perspectives to our rapidly growing company. Get to know Alexander Wilkins and Tim O’Keeffe, who are excited to contribute to our mission of driving innovation in the composites industry.

Alexander Wilkins

Sales Manager, USA and Canada

What has been your most significant achievement inworking life or academia so far?

The most significant achievement for me would be getting my academic research published in a scientific journal. The publication milestone was important to me because it highlighted strong collaborative efforts with other researchers and writers, while also allowing me to share my research results with a greater audience in hopes of extending others knowledge to help advance research efforts by all in the field.

What are you most excited about in the coming months at Versiv?

I look forward to building relationships and collaborating with customers and Versiv teammates to solve difficult problems. It is exciting to use my technical background to solve problems in the wide variety of industries which Versiv serves. I enjoy working jobs where no two days are the same.

What’s the most interesting place you’ve travelled for work?

The most interesting place I’ve travelled for work has got to be the island of Guam. Lots of great historical sites to visit for those interested in World War II history, along with crystal-clear snorkeling along coral reefs.

What's the best advice you've ever received in terms of working life?

The best advice I have received is to never lose your hunger to learn new things and to be a good listener. I think these things go hand-in-hand.

If you weren’t in sales, what career could you see yourself in?

If I wasn’t in sales, a career as a ranger or naturalist in the US National Parks service would interest me.

What do you do to unwind outside of work?

Unwinding for me typically involves the great outdoors, whether it be a hike, camping trip, or a snowshoe trip.

Tim O’Keeffe

Product Development Specialist, Ireland

What inspired you to pursue a career in product development?

I have always been interested in science and polymer chemistry, product development is a career that allows me to demonstrate my curiosity through identifying opportunities and solving customer problems using the knowledge I have gained over the course of my career and educational background.

What excites you most about joining Versiv Composites?

Versiv has undergone significant change in all areas of the company and this work environment can foster product development.  I have experience in various coating methods/technologies such as slot-die and spin coating but Versiv's coating and production methods were new to me so I was excited to learn from what is a highly experienced team.

What trends in the industry are you most excited about?

As technologies advance it is exciting seeing the new applications for Versiv's materials such as aerospace and5G. These industries require Versiv's high performance materials to perform optimally and it is validating to hear this feedback from Versiv's customers.

Can you share a project from your past experience that you’re particularly proud of?

I was part of a small team that worked on transparent electrophoretic displays which resulted in granted patents and prototypes that ultimately led to the company being acquired.

What kind of work are you doing for Versiv at the moment?

I am mainly working in our new R&D lab to develop new processes and products. This requires me to mimic our coating towers in the labor using our new R&D coating tower. Once I have done a mock coating I look to characterise that material with our extensive analytical equipment. After validating the new material or process is successful it is moved to the production towers.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work that might surprise your colleagues?

Not sure I do anything that could be classed as a surprise, maybe that I like gaming? Red Dead Redemption, God of War and of course FIFA.
