Prevent residue in heat sealing with PTFE release
Heat sealing and bag manufacturing are normally very automated processes requiring high speeds automation and neat finishes on the seal. It is vital that the release solution used to covet heat sealer impulse wires, heating bars or jaws is efficient and reliable.
In plastic bag manufacturing, the HDPE blown film is sealed outside of the border of the bags and cut with high temperature and speed to make plastic bags (grocery bags are common). For product packaging applications, the actual heat sealing process may weld more sides of the package at one time.
Versiv PTFE coated glass fabric are designed and used to protect the heating elements of sealing machines from build-up of film residue and sticking while allowing for constant production cycle after cycle.
The superior clean release of Versiv non-stick products means that they can be used as sheets; tapes or belts in a wide variety of packaging machinery as heated platen covers for film sealing and wrapping. The excellent heat transfer allows for high speeds, ensuring that no residue is left after the cycle and therefore allowing for continuous process.
Depending on the customer’s process, it may be preferred to use sheets of PTFE coated fabric, its adhesive backed version, or release belts for overwrapping and sealing roll packages applications. Versiv products can withstand the heat of the welding operation and provide a non-stick surface so the sealed package can be easily released. For side sealing applications, our Versiv tear resistant belts are generally preferred.
