Designed specifically for use in radio frequency (RF) or microwave applications, Versiv Microwave Transmissive Fabrics are composed of carefully designed aramid weave coated with PTFE.

Signal Transparency for Radio and Antenna Cover

Signal Transparency

One of the crucial features in communication systems concealment is  signal transparency. Versiv Microwave Transmissible Fabrics are designed to be transparent to Radio Frequency (RF) signals, allowing them to pass through with minimal attenuation or distortion. Low RF signal loss ensures the signals reach intended targets with minimal degradation.

Thermal Dissipation and Heat Management

With low thermal conductivity, Versiv Microwave Transmissible Fabrics dissipate heat quickly to ease complex cooling systems' strain. These fabrics are 3-5X thinner than other communication systems concealment solutions, and have 10-15X higher thermal conductivity.

Environmental Protection

Radomes, Shrouds and Electromagnetic Windows made with Versiv Microwave Transmissible Fabrics protect antenna infrastructure components from hash environmental factors, such as rain, snow, wind, and UV radiation. They also offer protection against from vandalism, unauthorised access, and physical damage.

Low Maintenance

Permanent hydrophobicity repels waters for decades without the need for maintenance or repainting. This inert surface also protects the shroud from dirt, debris and graffiti which will interfere with signal integrity and damage the overall aesthetics of small-cell deployments in our cities.

Comparison between Versiv Microwave Transmissive Fabrics with Sandwich and Monolithic Composites.

Band-agnostic simply means that the radome or antenna cover does not need tuning for the frequency of the incident signal.

Versiv Microwave Transmissible Fabrics are band-agnostic and mechanically strong enough to provide the required structural integrity at an extremely low thickness (typically around 0.2mm / 8 mil) – up to 5X thinner than typical concealment solutions.

By keeping this minimal thickness in front of the array, the fabric’s thickness remains small enough compared to the signal’s wavelength to not induce excess loss or scattering, and so provides optimum performance at any operating frequency regardless of band, indigence angle, carrier frequency or future innovations.

Band-Agnostic up to 100GHz: Ideal for 5G mmWave Shrouds and Radomes

The fifth generation of cellular network functionality needed to meet the growing demand for connected devices and associated data requires robust infrastructure to support it. At its core, 5G intends to do four things:

  • Provide 1,000x higher data volumes
  • Service 10-100x more connected devices
  • Handle 10-100x higher user-data rates
  • And do so at 5x lower latency

The infrastructure required for a 5G network will be gradually implemented and evolve from what is currently in place. 5G is being deployed across three frequency bands:

  • Low-band (typically between 0.6GHz – 2.6GHz) operating in parallel with the existing 4G infrastructure and well-suited for providing coverage to a wide geographic area. 
  • Mid-band or sub6 (typically below 6GHz) currently operates around 3.5GHz in the U.S. and is well suited for MIMO arrays to offer improved capacity due to their higher throughput. 
  • High-band, or mmWave (typically between 24 - 45GHz), is how 5G systems intend to meet public demand. At this frequency, a signal has the highest possible bandwidth and so can deliver the most data possible at any given time. The higher frequency results in lower wavelengths, so although capacity is increased, the coverage of that capacity is significantly reduced.
